India\''s biggest aluminum producer, added that its sales fell 3% from a year ago to 45.3 billion rupees. All Indian smelters suffered from the 12% jump of the rupee compared to the dollar and the lower smelting fees. Hindalco lifted aluminum output by 9% and copper by 12% in the latest quarter.
However a stronger rupee will continue to put pressure on the profit margins.
