The Reserve Bank of India’s Reference Rate for the US dollar is Rs. 44.34 and the Reference Rate for Euro is Rs. 57.61 on January 19, 2007. The corresponding rates for the previous day (January 18, 2007) were Rs. 44.25 and Rs. 57.36 respectively.

The Reserve Bank of India has announced the auction for notified amount of Rs.2000 crore
The auction will be conducted on January 24, 2007 using ""Multiple Price Auction"" method. The allocation to the non-competitive bidders will be outside the notified amount, at the discretion of the Bank.Results will be announced on the same evening.

Govt. of India signs MoU with RBI

Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India and the RBI on January 16, 2007, signed a MoU for Multi-State Urban Co-operative Banks
To improve the operational efficiency, quality of management information systems and governance, the Reserve Bank would assess the training and computerisation needs of the Multi State Urban Co-operative Banks with the objective of upgrading their human resources skills and technological infrastructure.RBI made an arrangement through which there is a convergence on the approach and remedial actions required to be taken for facilitating the development of the sector.

BOB Authorised as Primary Dealer
Bank of Baroda has been authorised to undertake Primary Dealer business in government securities market with effect from Tuesday, January 16, 2007 and, concomitantly, the authorisation given to BOB Capital Markets Limited as Primary Dealer stands withdrawn.the Reserve Bank of India had issued guidelines on February 27, 2006 addressed to all Scheduled Commercial Banks (excluding RRBs) on eligibility criteria for banks to undertake Primary Dealer business.
